Built by people with
deep roots in payments.

Paystaq was started by a team with years inside PSPs and acquiring banks — close enough to the problem to understand it wasn't going away on its own.

OUR MISSION

Every legitimate transaction deserves to be approved.

The global payments industry loses billions in revenue every year to preventable failures. False declines frustrate customers, poor routing inflates costs, and legacy risk engines can't keep pace with modern fraud patterns.

Paystaq exists to close that gap. We've built a three-level optimization engine — UPQS, Sentinel ML, and Smart Routing — that works together to ensure the right transaction reaches the right acquirer with the right data, every single time.

We believe payment infrastructure should be invisible — it should just work.
We build for the long term, not for the demo. Robust, auditable, reliable.
We are obsessed with approval rates the way others are obsessed with cost.
OUR VISION

To become the default payment optimization layer for every modern merchant.

We're building toward a future where no merchant loses revenue to a payment system they can't control. Where every PSP, acquirer, and payment method is accessible through one intelligent layer — optimized automatically, continuously, and transparently.

OUR STORY

Founded by industry insiders

Paystaq wasn't conceived in a boardroom. It grew out of years of operating our own payment infrastructure — and the hard lessons that came with it.

2021
Built our own PSP from scratch
We didn't start as a software company. We set out to build a payment processor — writing our own acquiring infrastructure from the ground up. What we learned in those early months shaped everything that followed.
2022
Went live. Problems became visible.
We launched with core processing functionality and started handling real transactions. It worked — but patterns emerged we couldn't ignore: good transactions failing, approval rates lower than they should be, and no clear way to fix it from the outside.
2023
Rearchitected for smarter routing
We went back into the architecture. The routing logic was rebuilt from scratch — more dynamic, more data-driven, more responsive to real-time acquirer performance. Approval rates improved. We kept going.
2024
Built a risk engine on our own data
Years of processing gave us something valuable: data. We started building a risk and data quality engine — what would eventually become UPQS and Sentinel ML — trained on transaction patterns we'd observed first-hand.
2025
Realised the demand was bigger than us
Conversations with merchants and PSPs kept surfacing the same frustration: they needed exactly what we'd built, but couldn't build it themselves. We decided to open up the core — packaging our internal infrastructure as a platform others could use.
2026
Paystaq launches
Paystaq goes live as a standalone payment orchestration platform. The same engine that powered our own PSP, now available to any merchant or payment company that needs it.
OUR VALUES

How we work, and why it matters

These aren't slogans. They're the operating principles we apply to every product decision, customer interaction, and line of code we write.

Reliability above all
Payments are mission-critical infrastructure. We hold ourselves to the same standard as the banks we work with — 99.99% uptime, auditable systems, and zero-surprise behaviour.
Obsession with outcomes
We don't measure success by features shipped. We measure it by approval rates recovered, revenue unlocked, and failed transactions prevented. Every decision flows from that.
Transparency as default
Our customers see exactly what we do, why we route where we route, and what each optimization layer contributes. No black boxes. Full audit trails. Complete visibility.
Compliance by design
We're built for complex regulatory reality: PSD2, GDPR, SCA, and the intricacy of cross-border acquiring across dozens of markets. Compliance is not an afterthought — it's in the foundation.
Long-term thinking
We optimise for trust, not vanity metrics. We'd rather have ten customers who deeply rely on Paystaq than a hundred who barely use it. Depth of relationship beats breadth of logos.
Ownership mindset
Every person on our team owns outcomes, not tasks. When a customer has a problem, we treat it as our own. We stay close to our customers' metrics and respond quickly when something shifts.
CAREERS

Come build something that matters.

We're growing quickly and looking for people who care deeply about quality, ownership, and building infrastructure that lasts.

Don't see your role? We're always open to hearing from exceptional people.
